CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch manual therapy that gently releases deep tension in the body to transform pain patterns, improve physical and emotional health and restore the body's innate healing mechanism. Releasing restrictions in the CranioSacral system leads to improvements in various bodily functions such as digestion, sleep, respiration, circulation, musculoskeletal pain and the central nervous system. It can also be tremendously helpful for working on emotional afflictions such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress which often respond well to gentle, slow, restorative work.

Family Constellation Work is a three-dimensional therapeutic process with trained facilitators that works with dynamics around family, relationship and sense of self. This powerful work helps participants connect with their ancestral lineage, reveal unconscious behavioral patterns and realign with greater health and consciousness. It allows us to break unhealthy patterns so that we can live happier, healthier, more fulfilled lives. The results can be life-changing. Family Constellation Work looks at family and life situations with a wider lens, so we gain insights into the deeper reasons that cause things to occur, such as why individuals are not given a place or not spoken of and why behavioral patterns appear to repeat, often unconsciously, from one generation to the next. This work helps participants connect with their ancestral lineage, reveals unconscious behaviors and realigns with the movement toward greater health and consciousness.

Body Work

Function Release Method is the type of body work used in this treatment. Functional Release Method integrates ischemic holds with gentle motion to help relieve pain, improve mobility, and align posture. This work is great for post-surgical, post-injury & post-accident. No matter how long ago the trauma occurred, FRM can aid in promoting postural and movement integrity.

Laura is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine with a specialty in integrative mental health. She is a seventh-generation Kentuckian who, after many years living in NYC and Portland, OR, is grateful to be back home and working alongside the incredible practitioners at The Light Clinic. Laura uses she or they pronouns.

Laura attended Columbia University in the City of New York, completing a Bachelors of Arts (BA) in English and Comparative Literature in 2010. She received a Post-Bacc Pre-Med certification from the University of Louisville and went on to earn a Masters of Science in Integrative Mental Health and Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. She has an active license to practice Naturopathic medicine and primary care from the state of Oregon.

Laura finds that healing comes from integration of our minds, bodies, and spirits and our connection to nature, ourselves, and our communities. Her sessions at The Light Clinic combine Naturopathic consultation and health coaching with CranioSacral treatments, which you can book online.

Naturopathic medicine can support you at any stage in life, starting with general wellness and preventive care. It can also serve as adjunctive support alongside Western medical care for serious health conditions. No matter where you are on your healing journey, Laura’s approach to wellness coaching is trauma-informed and collaborative so that lifestyle changes feel accessible, sustainable, and enjoyable. She recommends herbal medicine and supplements when they are individually indicated, as well as dietary changes.

Laura has particular expertise in supporting the diversity of human minds and nervous systems. She believes neurodiversity is as essential for a thriving culture and community as biodiversity is for an ecosystem, and that by embracing our differences we can see the beauty in ourselves and one another. Much of this expertise comes from her lived experience as an autistic and highly sensitive person, as well as her work with neurodivergent patients and clients in a professional capacity. This includes both innate differences, such as autism and ADHD, and acquired differences, such as trauma.

During an initial 90-minute session, Laura will review your health history and listen to your story, getting to know you, your concerns, and your hopes and goals. In the last thirty minutes, you and Laura will shift from conversation to a CranioSacral therapy session. Follow-up appointments are 60 minutes and include both checking in on Naturopathic recommendations and CranioSacral treatment; the time spent on each is tailored to your individual needs.

In addition to her training as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Laura completed her Pilates mat certification at the Kane School in New York in 2011 and health coaching certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2013. She has trained in CranioSacral and Myofascial therapies at the Moving Mountain Institute, as well as Reiki with Jett Koda in Oregon. Through the Integrative Mental Health masters program, Laura studied Hakomi therapy and was presented the Mind-Body Medicine award by her peers to recognize her work combining mindfulness-based somatic counseling with bodywork to support patients with embodied trauma and dissociation. She has additional training in Clinical Strategies for Neuroinflammation from the Kharrazian Institute and received Naturopathic gastroenterology mentorship under Dr. Sandberg-Lewis. Additionally, Laura has taken Two-Eyed Seeing courses on trauma, addiction, and bodywork to incorporate indigenous and Western perspectives with Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona and studied herbalism and shamanism with Dr. Deborah Frances/Beautiful Little Dancing Crow.

Carrie Seay, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, now happily resides here in Frankfort, Kentucky. She was first introduced to CranioSacral Therapy in 1999 with the birth of her daughter. This modality successfully helped integrate her young daughter into this world of sensory overload that can be difficult for sensitive babies. It was Carrie’s personal life journey and struggles with chronic depression and anxiety that ultimately led her back to Craniosacral therapy, for her own healing and as a way to help others in their healing.

In 2006, she began studying visualization and meditation techniques in Intuition Medicine with Mike and Sandy Helvey at the Center for Intuitive Awareness, receiving her certification in Intuition Medicine 6 years later. The techniques she learned greatly assisted in her own emotional healing and are the foundation for the tools she uses with, and teaches to, her clients. To further develop and expand these skills, Carrie started taking craniosacral classes with the Upledger Institue in 2014. These two modalities have proven a perfect match and are what make Carrie the unique practitioner she is today.

Whether utilizing CranioSacral work as a complementary or primary component to the treatment of an acute or chronic condition, Carrie is excited to meet you in your journey and assist in the most positive way for your health and healing.

Bert Brown LMT is native to the Hawaiian Islands, but was raised on a farm in Kentucky, where his mother is from. His father, who is native Samoan, introduced massage therapy to Bert at a young age. He helped aid multiple sports related injuries using massage and Ti leaf soaked in saltwater–a common healing method used in Polynesian culture. Bert was convinced that the Ti leaf had magical powers because his father’s therapeutic method worked so well.

Football would eventually lead Bert to Union College, where he studied Physical Therapy and Health & Nutrition. Bert’s love for land, instilled by both the island and farm cultures, led him to create a small business that started as landscape, and turned into just “helping how he could.” In true aloha spirit, the love was reciprocated. With the guidance and support of the community he had helped build, and the knowledge acquired from his education and personal therapeutic experiences, he gained clarity around his next steps in life.

Bert graduated from the Lexington Healing Arts Academy in 2020 and received his license from the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy. He currently lives in Frankfort with his wife and their sweet pets. He loves to visit family in the islands and always comes home with a recharged spirit. It is his intention to convey healing and that “spirit of aloha” through his practice.

He is honored and excited to learn, grow and practice with such an amazing group of healers at The Light Clinic.

Hunter Purdy, RN, HNB-BC, HWNC-BC is in service to Love (aka God, Spirit, Infinite Possibility, Oneness, Creation, Beyond Words). One of her favorite questions is, “What would Love do?” Since 2004, as a holistic nurse and coach in her private practice (www.servinglove.org), inspiring whole person transformation through Love has been her offering. Hunter creates a loving space within which others can access the Love that they are, for themselves, their families, their communities, and our earth, toward the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible. In 1997 Hunter helped a German psychotherapist bring Family Constellation Work (FCW) to America. She experienced the profound benefits personally, and within her family system, of restoring what the founder of FCW called, “The Orders of Love.” It is Hunter’s heart’s delight to be a member of the team making the profound benefits of FCW available in Kentucky. Jessie Wilder was introduced to CranioSacral Therapy (CST) while seeking treatment for several old running injuries that resurfaced while pregnant with her first daughter. The modality successfully relieved her pain and helped align her system for a more comfortable pregnancy. Within a few months of the birth of her daughter, Jessie was able to again witness the effectiveness of CST as it relieved shoulder and stomach pain in the young infant. Within a few years she made the decision to further study CST in the hope of assisting others on their journeys to healing and health.
